As a young girl growing up in Sydney, Josie Gittany shared many special occasions and created many memories with her family and friends. She soon realised that she wanted to be apart of creating these special events for others and in turn allowing this to become her future career.

When Josie concluded her job with NRMA she began to realise that she had a passion and interest in styling events. She enjoyed putting her creativity to use by putting aesthetically pleasing set ups together for special occasions such as Weddings, Christenings, Baptisms, Holy Communions, Birthdays, Anniversaries and many more. The power of social media has also allowed this form of styling to become a growing trend, and it has been of assistance to Josie throughout her journey. Josie’s bubbly and rapturous personality is perfectly suited to work of this nature and once the corporate door closed for her, she was able to feel a sense of liberation by fulfilling her dream whilst being truer to her personality. 

Now a 30-year-old bright eyed smiling woman, Josie has realized the joy that she receives when designing the perfect occasion and by making others happy. Organisation, diligence and passion are just some of her many fortes and she definitely has an eye for detail, “hard work comes from working from the heart” says Josie.

Our lives are weaved together by special events and memorable moments to share and celebrate, however, due to the busy Australian way of life, we sometimes have very limited time to organise and prepare for those special life moments. This is where Josie comes in. She will use her magical wand and transform your vision into a reality, whilst ensuring that it is an event, which you will never forget. One of Josie’s many clients expresses her gratitude by stating, “Josie, my Fairy God Mother! Thank you for your support the last 10 months and bringing my vision to life.”

Josie’s talent and hard working nature are quite evident in the joy she brings her clients as seen in her many online reviews, “Josie I can’t thank you enough for planning & styling my Baby Shower. Everything was perfect! I was speechless when I arrived at the venue, I absolutely loved every little detail. Thank you so much.”

Josie has found her greatest passion for styling weddings. She reflects, “it was the closing of one door and the opening of another.” She is inspired by both Australian and International stylists, one of her favourite being Karen Tran. Josie’s passion for weddings is very evident as she starts talking about it, “you just have such a special feeling when styling a wedding.”

This grandiose project begins by Josie trying to get to know her client’s vision and by understanding their likes and dislikes, “most clients bring an inspiration photo with them, whether it’s from an Australian stylist or an International stylist.” Josie then tries to get a greater understanding of what the client envisions and tries her very best to bring that dream and vision to life. She then consistently liaises with them and ensures that she is upholding their vision.

Depending on the event some events take up to a week of preparation whilst some may take a little bit less time. “It sometimes takes a team of people to put it all together if it is a larger event, for instance, a wedding may take up to 25 people to set up in terms of styling. Weddings are on a different scale for me and they are my favourite event to set up and style. You end up building a relationship with the bride and groom and it becomes more personal.”

Josie has put her heart and soul into creating her own business titled, ‘Events by Josie Gittany’ and the reviews are fantastic thus far. For instance, “from the moment I got in contact with Josie to even now after the wedding, Josie has been nothing short of amazing. She met with me, understood my vision, was honest with me from day 1 and was happy to give me her personal opinion when I was unsure of myself. She honestly turned our dream into a reality and her team put together the most magical room for our reception.”

Josie explains that she enjoys seeing the emotion on people’s faces when they see their  event styled. “I’ve just had an eye for it and I thought I’d start it as a business and see where it takes me and since then I haven’t looked back. Every client is a blessing!”
